Development Database Coordinator

Department: Perkins Development

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week



The Database Coordinator is part of the Perkins School For The Blind Development Team which is charged with raising over $9 million dollars annually in support of Perkins’ mission to prepare children and young adults who are blind, deafblind or visually impaired with the education, confidence and skills they need to realize their potential.

Reporting to the Director of Development Operations, the Development Database Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of development operations activities primarily in Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge donor database in support of the overall goals of the Development department. These activities include production of mail and email lists, managing monthly donor records, generating certain reports and analysis, and donor record updates. S/he will assist in implementing and documenting database business rules and procedures, and help to trouble-shoot user questions/issues. S/he will maintain a strong understanding of the Perkins email and online donation tools and work collaboratively with the web team as needed on implementing development operations in these tools. This position works in conjunction with all Trust database users, as well as IT, Business Office and Marketing departments.


Responsibilities include:

Data Integrity

Import actions, appeals and package codes.

Help to maintain various constituent lists and groups in Raiser’s Edge such as parents, alumni, students, board members and others.

Assist with imports and exports of data files from other vendors including but not limited to direct marketing firm, Phone, Email, and Address Appends.

Maintain monthly (recurring) donor records in Raiser’s Edge by adding new sign ups, handling expired credit cards and updating payment information as needed. In coordination with Annual Giving Manager, acknowledge and welcome new sign ups, produce and mail annual statements. Respond to donor inquiries about current or potential monthly giving.

Update donor records based on information provided by Prospect Researcher or other Trust staff as requested.

Merge duplicate records and perform other data clean up tasks as needed.

Mailing Lists

Ensure accurate and timely data pulls from Raiser’s Edge database for certain mailing lists as needed including direct mail appeals, , event communications, InFocus magazine and other development department activities.

Digital Fundraising

In conjunction with Annual Giving Manager and direct marketing firm, identify and upload audience segments for email appeals and other online communications. Attend weekly digital strategy meetings. Alongside Annual Giving Manager, plays key role in maintenance of and tracking of monthly donor program. 

In coordination with the IT Web team, responsible for key data syncing operations between Raiser’s Edge and online tools, including: duplicates management, group management, and constituent group assignment. 

Develop competency in online tools in order to create and/or edit donation forms and emails.

Other responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Director of Development Operations, generate monthly revenue and reconciliation reports.

Assist with documentation of business rules, coding of records and reporting protocols.

Play lead role in operations related to donor recognition list produced in Annual report – including name check mailing and follow up.

In coordination with gift processing and other Trust staff, generate quarterly Pledge reminders.

Support gift processing & acknowledgment work as needed during busy times. Maintain knowledge of lockbox procedures. Assist with maintenance of external “do not mail” list.

Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned by the Senior Database Manager or the Director of Development Operations.


Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree and two years of experience with Raisers Edge or other database software and knowledge of non-profit fundraising.   Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G-Suite. Experience with Crystal Reports, Import-O-Matic and advanced Excel a plus.
